Bye bye New York, hello London

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

It’s hard to believe that I’m actually writing this post from my hotel room in London.  I barely slept in the last week or so, trying to organize, discard, pack, prepare, and bid farewell (for now) to everyone.  And the day finally came and went.  I am now officially homeless and living on the road.  Because I was lacking so much sleep, I don’t think that I was fully present in the past few days to really process and take everything in.  But it is all done now.  I’ve begun my journey…  Paula and I both can’t quite put a label on what we’re doing; it’s not exactly a vacation since we’re not taking time off from work.  An extended holiday? A sabbatical?

I suppose this is what I’m doing now.  It’s my life.  I’m just living.

We took a late night flight out of JFK and arrived this morning to a beautiful sunny day in London.  After checking in at The Zetter (a small boutique hotel in Clerkenwell) I was desperate for a nap but we decided to rally through the afternoon to get to a proper sleeping schedule.  So we headed over to Tate Modern for a leisurely lunch and a stroll through the museum.  Tomorrow we’ll try for a nice full day here…

I can barely make sense of what I’m typing at the moment so I’m off to bed.  Well, after I finish my beer…

First of many, as Paula put it...
